"As a five year old boy, I developed a stigmatism in my left eye, making it difficult for me to see the chalk board in grade one. After a visit to the doctor, it was decided that I should wear a patch on my good eye (right eye) to strengthen my left eye. For one year, I wore either a 'pirates patch' or gauze with tape over my good eye. This led to a number of kids calling me names and bullying me for how I looked.
This was such a defining year in my life and I swore to stand up to bullies and help those who were being targeted like I had been. As a father of four young boys, I work hard to instill the value of friendship and respect of those around you. Friends First is an outstanding outlet to spread these values to others"
